My Livy Space will invite you to discuss the human body in outer space on this occasion.

Maybe you all must be amazed by the astronauts. Their work is fantastic. Exploring outer space. Imagine drinking coffee while looking up at the stars. Maybe we will imagine an enjoyable atmosphere for sure.


But have you ever thought and imagined what happens to the human body when in outer space? And what would it be like to live in a place where there was absolutely no gravity? Will it be as cool as the ones in the movies? Well, I will discuss this in detail in my article.


Outer space is hazardous for the human body


The human body is designed to live on Earth. So, humans were created in such a way to get used to the force of gravity, atmosphere, and Earth's climate as a whole. Being in a zero-gravity place can be very harmful to the body. What's the danger?


Weakened immune system: When humans are in space, their immune system weakens very quickly. The study was conducted on 23 astronauts who stayed on the Space Station for 2 to 6 months with 18 male subjects and 5 female subjects aged 53 years. It was proven that their immunity deteriorated when they were in space. Even after they returned to Earth, their immunity would take some time to return to normal.


Skin is getting thinner: Another effect that the human body experiences while in space is thinning the skin by 15%. Astronauts returning from space missions say their skin becomes drier and itchy. Finally, scientists decided to send 6 mice into space. This study found that the skin of mice returning from space was eroded by up to 15%.


Poor eyesight: Astronauts on space missions admit that they cannot see close objects clearly. Everything will return to normal once they return to Earth. However, if astronauts stay in space without gravity for too long, their vision cannot be expected. The reason is, human blood is accustomed to gathering in the brain due to the force of gravity. Without gravity, too much blood collects in the brain, causing obstruction to the eye's blood vessels.


Body getting taller: This is good news for those who feel inferior because they are not tall enough. Being in space can make the human body 5 cm taller. Without gravity, the human spine will adjust and extend up to 5 cm. There is no gravitational pressure, so the bones do not heavily support the body.

Body disorientation: When they were first in space, the astronauts said they were bewildered. They felt like they were hanging on the roof upside down, then fell. But after 24 hours, they can adjust. There are even times when astronauts don't feel their hands and feet. Well, it's all due to the influence of zero gravity in space.


Human bones can soften: Well, this is the most dangerous effect. So, The longer a person is in space, the softer the bones. Every month, human bones lose 1% of bone density. It could even be more, you know. As a result, astronauts in space are prone to fractures.


Weak heart: The human heart is very diligent in pumping blood because of the gravitational force that causes blood to fall. So, when in space, blood pressure will decrease so that the heart does not pump a lot of blood. This makes the human heart even lazier. An astronaut will quickly get tired when returning to Earth even if he doesn't do heavy work. A weak heart is definitely not good for health and will be very dangerous in the future.

The impact of extreme space conditions is not suitable for humans. But scientists don't just give up because exploring the universe is essential.


Until now, they are still trying to find a way for humans to survive in outer space. Hopefully, it can be successful quickly so that there are amazing astronomical discoveries.
